2nd Grade Rhythm Video

The second graders are learning about note values and rhythm. They are learning to differentiate the lengths of notes as well as how they appear in music visually in a musical score.
They practice this short video via youtube to help them to distinguish the different note values.

Kindergarten Marching In Time

The Kindergarten students are learning to march to music in different tempos.
They enhanced the march by choosing an item blindfolded from a grab bag.
They placed the items on their heads and bodies and proceeded to parade to different songs
as they tried to guess the title of each new piece.




5th Grade Music Presentations on Foreign Countries

The 5th grade is continuing their study of music as a universal language.
Each student selected a foreign country and researched a particular music tradition
indigenous to that region. They shared presentations with their class including learning a
new dance genre from Jamaica called Ska.

2nd Grade Caterpillar Rhythms

2nd graders partnered in teams to clap various rhythm patterns they are learning.  As they completed each group the patterns grew to form caterpillars. Teamwork helped to assure they were executing the skills properly.

6th Grade Drumming Patterns

A key component of playing music is the ability to read and perform rhythms accurately. The 6th grade have begun drumming drills to improve their sight-reading, their eye-hand coordination and their ability to play succinctly in an ensemble.  Next comes improvisation!
